Africa Basketball Academy Expands with Launch of ABA Eagles Clubs in Johannesburg and Pretoria
Johannesburg, South Africa – [26 August 2025]
The Africa Basketball Academy (ABA), one of the fastest-growing basketball development institutions in South Africa, is proud to announce the launch of two new clubs under its Eagles banner:
ABA Eagles Johannesburg, based at the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) – Johannesburg Campus
ABA Eagles Pretoria, based at the AISJ Pretoria Campus
These launches mark an exciting new chapter in ABA’s mission to raise the standard of basketball across Africa through elite coaching, structured player development, and access to world-class facilities.
ABA Eagles Johannesburg: Where Champions Take Flight
Located at AISJ’s flagship Johannesburg campus, the ABA Eagles Johannesburg will train in the school’s state-of-the-art Treehouse Gymnasium, which features a 1,100m² double indoor court, multiple outdoor courts, and top-tier fitness facilities.
Players will benefit from ABA’s European-style coaching methods, focusing on skill mastery, tactical intelligence, and physical conditioning – all in an environment that mirrors professional-level basketball infrastructure
ABA Eagles Pretoria: Building the Next Generation
At the AISJ Pretoria campus, the ABA Eagles Pretoria program is designed specifically for players aged 7–13, giving younger athletes a strong foundation in basketball fundamentals. Training sessions will emphasize technical development, teamwork, and confidence-building – all within a safe, supportive, and age-appropriate environment.
By focusing on this critical development stage, ABA ensures that players not only learn the game but also cultivate positive habits, resilience, and a passion for basketball.
A Vision for African Basketball
With these two new clubs, ABA now expands its footprint across Gauteng, offering opportunities for both young beginners and aspiring competitors. The academy’s ultimate vision is to prepare athletes capable of competing at the highest levels, including the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and beyond.
